Jobs In The Beauty Industry

Saturday, January 2nd, 2010

We interviewed several online beauty products companies to find out how business is doing within the beauty and hair care industry to see how the market was doing in general but also how individual businesses were doing with the beauty industry.

HEre are some of the results:

Salon and spa technician jobs were off about 18%. This means that salon and spa technicians in the beauty industry were not just seeing lack of jobs but actually lost 18% of the jobs that were available the previous year in 2008. The industry for 2010 looks better in the second half of the year as they expect jobs losses to stop in the begninning of 2009 but in the second hald industry experts in the hair and skin business expect jobs to be created in the latter hald of the year.

We asked several beauty related companies how they were adapting. We found out that companies in the wholesale and retail hair care and skin care industries are actually doing better. The three top companies that we spoke with all reported greater revenues in 2009 than in 2008. This hard to believe at first sight but companies like Amazon also report this. As we explored deeper we found that companies were becoming more creative and utilizing more avenues for sales. Many actually cut their advertising budet but opted to go in different directions such as adding wholesale lines or adding new product lines and instead of advertising as heavily put their money into inventory of new products that were in demand. Expansion of products offered was the biggest reason that these companies were exppanding.

Some of the new products lines brought in within the hair products, shampoo, and skin care industry are dead sea shampoo, seaweed shampoo, olive oil shampoo, rosemary hair oil, rosemary hair products, shampoo for oily hair, shampoo for oily scalp, olive oil hair products, apple cider vinegar shampoos and hair care products, acv rinse and many more specialty hair care products. Also specialty black hair growth, black hair products, black hair shampoos with oils and much more.
